MIZ ART ~ Visual Arts Standards

Miz Art # 2

The Colorado Department of Education just released the new Visual Arts Standards.

Your Miz Art for the week is to read the standards (at the bottom of this blog post) and write about one of the standards:

1. Explain the standard in your own words (make sure you include which standard you are writing about).

2. How have we been using this standard in class?

3. How can we include this standard in our classes in the future?

VISUAL ARTS STANDARDS

1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend
The visual arts are a means for expression, communication and meaning making.

2. Envision and Critique to Reflect
Visual arts recognize, articulate, and implement critical thinking through the synthesis, evaluation and analysis of visual information.

3. Invent and Discover to Create
Generate works of art that employ unique ideas, feelings, and values using different media, technologies.

4. Relate and Connect to Transfer
Recognize, articulate, and validate the value of the visual arts to lifelong learning and the human experience.

  1. Visual Arts Standard number one means that through images alot is said, a picture is worth a thousand words. In earlier times the only means of communication was through symbols and pictures. We have been using this standard in class durring the fence post painting. We were told to paint something that showed U.S. History, racism activism, or reasons for fences. Through the visual art that we have painted we have communicated as well as expressed a messege.
We can include this standard in everything we do, in my oppinion art is all about what you are expressing and communicating; art is a passion and with passion comes expression.
